My past work has involved themes of trauma, but the conversations have developed into larger narratives specifically regarding women. My identity as an artist is the desire to create work that can transcend words and stimulate pathways of emotion. I convey women that challenge the narratives of female archetypes in culture. Specifically, I am interested in the dialogue between the female figure and the landscape. These compositions have allowed me to explore themes of life, death, exile, spirituality, identity, trauma and strength relating to women. Subverting mainstream portrayals of women in my work fights against oppressive powers and ignites discourse to create safe spaces to discuss trauma survival.
